Read Me To Create Skins For R4i SDHC And R4i UK

The R4 cards allow customization of background pictures and skins of your Nintendo DS gaming console. There are two ways to change the skin files – one is automatic menas download a skin file and using it. Another way is to select your favorite picture and manually work to apply it as skin.

For this, you need micro-SD card reader and an Image Editor. Following are the steps to create and apply skin files for R4i SDHC cards.

1. Select an image first to set as your favorite skin. You can use Image search of Google and Bing to view all of the options. We’ll recommend you to use normal keywords instead of looking for ‘R4 skins’.

2. Open the image file in an Image Editor like Adobe Photoshop, GIMP, Inkscape, Paint Brush Pro, or Microsoft Paint Brush.

3. Resize the image to 192×256 pixels (width*height). You can also use a big image to show stretching at both sides.

4. Divide the image horizontally in two halves.

5. Save the top half as “bckgrd_1.bmp” and bottom as “bckgrd_2.bmp”.

NOTE: You can also follow step 1 to 5 to create skins for R4i UK cards.

6. Connect the micro-SD card with your computer using USB card reader.
